STUDYING ABROAD
For many years now, short-term study abroad programs, cultural exchanges, student exchanges, etc. have become familiar to many students.
“Semester Abroad” is considered a new effort of the Vietnam Institute of International Education in building and training IIEVN students to become global citizens. This is a great opportunity for students to experience an educational environment abroad, at the same time improve their foreign language skills, gain more understanding of the host country’s culture and introduce Vietnamese culture to international friends.
What is an overseas study program?
The cooperation program between IIEVN and university partners in other countries allows students from both schools to study at the partner school for 1 to 2 semesters with the same tuition fee as in the country. The students’ learning results will be recognized as equivalent and converted to the Institute’s program, the total study time remains unchanged. When participating in the program, depending on each partner school, students will receive different benefits such as scholarships, dormitory support, etc. Students participating in the program will have many benefits and opportunities to study in an international university environment, experiencing a new culture.
Benefits of the program
- Have the opportunity to experience the learning environment, be exposed to a new culture when studying abroad and develop yourself in a multicultural environment
- Have many opportunities to exchange and connect with international friends
- Have the opportunity to improve foreign languages and improve English communication skills
- Enhance the necessary skills of a global citizen: teamwork, analysis, problem solving
Basic conditions to participate in the program
- IIEVN students have completed at least two years of study at an educational training institution
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5/4 or higher.
So to make this dream come true, let’s prepare the following necessary luggage with the Institute of International Education Vietnam (IIEVN):
Foreign language ability
Studying in another country means that students must use the host country’s language or English and have very few opportunities to use Vietnamese. Therefore, without a good enough foreign language, students will not only have difficulty in daily life but also cannot absorb the curriculum content, which directly affects their graduation results later. To meet that need, IIEVN is still implementing many language training courses, including: English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese for students to choose to study, suitable for each individual’s study program.
Life skills and soft skills
Studying abroad means going to another country to study a program or course according to a predetermined training path and having to prepare at least a few months in advance for the necessary and sufficient skills, which is really a long-term challenge for students, and not everyone is suitable for this difficult path. Before leaving the country, IIEVN will equip students with both life skills and soft skills, such as: communication skills, teamwork skills, leadership skills, time management skills and situation handling skills so that students can best prepare for the study process abroad. Thereby, when entering a completely unfamiliar environment, students will not be surprised and will easily integrate into the learning environment and culture of the host country.
