DR. TRAN XUAN THAO – PRESIDENT OF THE INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION (IIE) PARTICIPATES IN HUE CITY SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR
On July 30, 2025, the Institute for International Education (IIE) had the honor of participating in a Scientific Seminar and Workshop organized by the Hue City Union of Science and Technology Associations, with the theme “Gathering opinions from intellectuals on the socio-economic development orientation of Hue City as a centrally-governed city.”
At the seminar, Dr. Tran Xuan Thao, President of the Institute for International Education (IIE), presented a significant paper on the topic: “Hue’s Integration – Gradually Making English the Second Language in Schools.”
Dr. Tran Xuan Thao provided an in-depth analysis of the importance of English in the context of Hue’s international integration, affirming: “English is not just a subject, but a gateway to the world. A generation of Hue students who can use English will help the city reach out regionally and internationally.”
The presentation also shared insights into the existing challenges in implementing English in Hue, while proposing effective models and practical policy recommendations, including:
- Investment incentives for educational organizations implementing bilingual programs in Hue.
- Attracting international experts and overseas Vietnamese to teach.
- Encouraging public-private partnerships and the socialization of comprehensive English language models.
- Piloting flexible approaches in pioneering schools, allowing for experimentation and adjustments based on reality.
The Institute for International Education (IIE) is committed to accompanying Hue City on its journey to make English the second language in schools, contributing to building a generation of Hue citizens capable of connecting with and reaching out to the world.
